Brunei Woos MRO Firms
Brunei has already used its wealth - from oil and gas exploration - to make investments in the aerospace sector. The government's investment company, Imprimis, bought U.S. company Piper Aircraft. Piper now uses Brunei as its main base in Asia Pacific. It will also be establishing a Piper flying school at Brunei International Airport. Piper issued a tender and is now assessing proposals from about half a dozen training organizations, says Rashid, adding that Piper is likely to choose a partner in next year's first quarter.Rashid was speaking at a special briefing organized to coincide with the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines' presidents meeting in Brunei.
