The Big Bang. Creation. Light speed. Gases, liquids and solids.
The Earth is a fascinating creation, as are humans, other mammals, reptiles, etc. But the universe, expansive, seemingly so very empty, having a distant beginning and -- it seems -- a coming ending, which still boggles my mind (surely, I'm not alone here), is for me the most difficult body to grasp. That is, I cannot -- nor can anyone, I expect -- imagine enough area to properly perceive the universe. It's not even comfortable trying to imagine the distance between Earth and our sun. The universe is the ultimate fascination in an experience that offers all kinds of things that fascinate.
Check out an article at Scientific American, a story that follows the work of theorists and researchers into the very beginning of our universe. I can't pretend to appreciate the difference, really, but it seems according to recent research that the universe might have started with a liquid bang, not a gaseous one. But who knows? With further study, maybe we'll realize it all started with something altogether unexpected -- fascinating to perhaps even scientists such as these.
