BOSSES SUCK: Lost a job by family death

"family is the most important thing"

From the IT FIGURES Dept:

I lost the contract I was on in south Orlando, after six months, so I am looking for work. Have been since 20th July, I think it was.

They decided about six months was enough, though my performance was never a problem. Never. I specifically asked the contracting agency if there were ever complaints to them about my performance, and there were not any. Weird, huh? I guess I was out too many days from Pops dying and that affecting my well-being. I will never understand some companies. More to the point, I will never understand some bosses, managers, supposed leaders. Well, that's not fair, as there are leaders, and then there are widget flickers. I guess these folks were more widget flickers than I had guessed. Shame.

Oh yes, they knew Dad had died, and the GM even said they were willing to cut me some slack because, in the words of the GM, "family is the most important thing." Well, apparently that suited him for about a month, seeing that I was out one day since and then zap, when I called in late one morning, suffering a messed up stomach from all the angst over the problems created after Dad died.

But as the scientist said to the student, while looking at the brownish blob squirming in the petrie dish, "That's life."

Oh, by bosses, I mean SOME bosses. I have certainly had some very good and conscientious bosses. I know I have been a conscientious boss on several occasions, too. Some folks, for whatever reason, choose to ignore humanity and humaneness when it proves inconvenient to them. I frankly worry more about all the rest of the damage they'll cause in the name of who-knows-what, than the fact that they rid of me. I cannot stand being unemployed, but I am not disappointed to be away from such a tone of intolerance.
