* DESIGNING THE PERSON
I have a job that I like, but it's not me at my full potential and that's nagging at me. Not only should companies be concerned with design, but people. Redesigning ME is my issue at hand: my drive, reputation and invigorating my 'true' confidence (not the front, but the deep inside one). This is hard, after a stunning layoff and two failed jobs in a row after a series of mostly small but all substantial successes. (The first failure was for a severe personality conflict that caused me to quit, and the second for taking a risky management role to help turn around a morbidly disfigured operation at a small daily paper only to get fired after a battle that ensued.) Design is self-invention: Right now, after a tough few years, I have to redesign my reputation and network, and work at attracting customers -- be it an employer or freelance or other. Design is setting: My home office needs more than I can afford -- the location in itself, in the front room, is not in a good place for working but a two-bedroom just isn't in the wallet. Design is the business plan: Who are my customers, really? Who do I want to be my customers? Should I select an industry to target with my services/skills, or as I am doing now, just keeping my eyes open, working a lesser day job and working on my skills"

See more at the link. It's a comment I wrote. The job is no longer, but the point is relevant to me.
